Our little shop has so much history

This morning I had a customer come in to see how different the shop was since her mother had it as a beauty shop for 50 years.  Listening to her tell me stories about her and her brothers and sisters playing with all the kids whose parents also had shops on the square.  Department stores filled the area were the
amphitheater is now.
Showing me where the hair dryers and hair/nail stations were placed in the shop and where a brick planter use to be outside the window.  She helped wash hair and take down rollers.  Taking the trash out back since she was knee high. She still has her mothers beauty shop sign.  I could tell those were the good old days. I thought I had heard a lot of history about this old building, but she took me back even further......and get this their last name is even Lambert..how funny is that?  It makes me proud to be here to continue making history for this old building.  I've always had a love for antiques, old buildings and their stories.  So I wouldn't be surprised if antique accessories started showing up in our shop in the future.

Summer Scarves

Summer Scarves

Ahhhh!!! My new love....Scarves and......in the summer too!!
How do you wear your summer scarves?

Fun ways to wear a scarf

Try these unique ways.......

Wear your scarves during the summer days and wrap yourself up on those cool summer nights

 A few more ways:

Simple tie. Best with your winter coat's collar turned up and the scarf lying under the collar to help secure it.
One loop around. Wrap long scarf once around neck.
Loop around and knot. Fold a large triangular scarf or shawl with fringe in half with the points in front. Wrap around back once and tie in front.
Bib style. Take a square scarf and fold in half. Tie in back.
Shawl wrap. Drape around your shoulders and tie in front. Or leave one end longer and sweep it over your shoulder for more drama and warmth.
Fold, tie, and loop. Fold long scarf in half lengthwise, wrap around your neck, and pull the ends through
Let it hang.  Let a long scarf hang around the back of your neck so that the two ends are in front, on either side

Have fun with your summer scarves!

Thankful for past storms

We are fixing up the shop outside.  Getting our new sign, adding hanging flowers and looking into putting  a flower bed outside the front window.
Just love the summertime.  The Amphitheater is having their first concert next Saturday and first movie the following Thursday.  Hope locals can come out and enjoy an evening of food, shopping, music and movies.

At the house we bought some ferns for the front porch.  While watering them one evening we noticed a birds nest in one of them.  Over the next couple of weeks there were 2 eggs, then 4 and now we have 4 gray baby birds.

We had some thunderstorms last night and  I was watching out the window at the ferns being blown from side to side. I wanted to get the fern with the baby birds and bring it inside, but of course I knew I couldn't do that.  So all I could do was pray that the babies and momma were going to be ok and that they were hanging on for dear life.  The next morning I went out to check on them and they were all snuggled up save and sound.  Thank you Lord for watching over them.  The Lord watched over them just like he did us 4 years ago this month when a tornado hit our house.  I thank God everyday for bringing us through that storm and others that were going on in our lives at that time.  Neil lost his job 2 days before the tornado hit.  Courtland and I would have been there by ourselves if he had not lost his job.  The Lord works in mysterious ways.  I don't question him.  He knew Neil needed to be away from that job.  Working the night shift is no way of a happy life. You lose out on so much, but of course Neil pushed on for us and I love him for that.
Thank you Lord for taking care of us while he was out of a job.  Neil is so much more happier now, and so are we.  They say if Mama's not happy no one is......it works that way for Dad's too.
